Miranda’s Mission in Ethiopia: Serving with Purpose

Hi, my name is Miranda White,

I am raising funds to go on a mission trip this summer with Be There Ministries, and this journey means more to me than I can fully put into words.

My relationship with God didn’t begin early in life. It’s something I’ve grown into over time. Only recently have I truly accepted and embraced that relationship. In doing so, I’ve found a deeper sense of purpose, direction, and peace. Looking back, I can see how He was guiding me even before I fully understood it.

Serving others has always been part of who I am. From a young age, I was involved in efforts like Big Brothers Big Sisters, volunteering during the Flint water crisis, working with the Salvation Army, and helping in food kitchens and senior centers. Those experiences planted a seed in my heart.

But as life went on, I became a mother and a leader at work. My days quickly filled with a cycle of providing, working, managing responsibilities, and caring for my family from laundry, meals, schedules, and everything in between. In the process, I found myself searching for identity. Through it all, the one thing that has always brought my heart peace is service, my love for helping others.

For the past 8 years, I have worked in EMS as a paramedic and as a Quality Manager, serving my community and expanding access to care for those in lower-income households through our Community Paramedic program. That work has shown me pain, resilience, and the importance of simply being there for someone when they need it most.

Through all of this, I’ve realized the three things that matter most to me are God, my family, and serving others.

This mission trip is more than just an experience. It’s an opportunity to step into what I believe God is calling me to do. It’s a chance to serve beyond my community and be a light in someone else’s life. If I can reach even one person, help just one individual see that there is hope, that there is a path forward, and that they can trust in God’s plan, it would mean everything to me.

I am currently attending SVSU to complete my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Public Health in 2026. Every part of my journey, the ups and downs of my career, education, raising children, and my faith, has led me here.
