Shane's Mission Trip to Ethiopia

The 10/40 window comprises Northern Africa, the Middle East, and almost all of Asia. This area is home to over 5 billion people, with 3 billion of these being “unreached,” meaning they have no access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now you may not follow Christianity, but don’t you think people around the world deserve the chance to choose for themselves?

I have the opportunity to go to Ethiopia, a country in East Africa, this summer. Ethiopia is a country within the 10/40 window, despite having a Christian population. This is because a significant population in Ethiopia still remains unreached, and they have zero access to Christianity. I have the opportunity to change that.

I will be travelling with BeThereMinistries, alongside members from HisHouse, the Christian Fellowship Organization I am a part of at Saginaw Valley State University. We will learn about Ethiopian culture and food, attend mass, help those in need, and ultimately seek to bring people to Christ.

Trips like this don’t come free, and I aim to raise $3,500 by the end of May to cover all expenses for the trip. (Fees, passport, airfare, housing, etc) You can give small, medium, or large; any amount helps. If you're unable to donate, you can still help by sharing this with others!

To wrap some things up, here are some statistics that make this trip mean just that much more to me.. 69% of people in Ethiopia experience poverty, many are malnourished and do not have safe drinking water, and 61% of the population experience food insecurity, meaning they do not know if they are going to have a next meal. Malaria is present in 60% of areas. Life expectancy in Ethiopia is in the mid-60s, whereas here in the US it's close to 80. Infant mortality in Ethiopia is 13 times higher than in the US, and maternal mortality is 17 times higher than in the US.

People in Ethiopia need help; they need Jesus Christ, and they do not have access to him. Please help me change that. Thank you.
